LSU EYE OF THE TIGER |
IT'S A FALL SATURDAY AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS THE NAME OF THE GAME IN THE RUSSELL HOUSE. SOME OF YOU MAY KNOW THAT I'M A BIG, BIG LSU FAN. IT GOES BACK TO MY DAYS AS A YOUNGSTER WHEN MY DAD, WHO ATTENDED LSU ON THE GI BILL FOLLOWING WWII. HE TOOK ME TO MY FIRST LSU GAME IN TIGER STADIUM (VISITING TEAMS CALL IT "DEATH VALLEY") AND IT IS THAT FOR MANY TEAMS. I SAW THE GREAT Y.A. TITTLE AND BILLY CANNON PLAY AND REMEMBER LISTENING TO THE GAMES MY DAD AND I COULD NOT ATTEND ON THE RADIO.
YEP, ITS THAT TIME AGAIN AND FOR THIS LOUISIANA BOY WHO WALKS IN HIS FATHER'S FOOTSTEPS (ALTHOUGH HE NEVER FILL THEM) I AM REVISITING MY YOUTH AND WATCHING LSU PLAY KENTUCKY. THIS WEEK MY TIGERS ARE RANKED NO. 1 IN THE NATION. FRANKLY IT SCARES ME, BUT EACH WEEK I LOOK FORWARD TO SEE THEM TAKE THE FIELD.
WISH MY DAD COULD BE HERE TO WATCH HIS BELOVED TIGERS, BUT THEN I LIKE TO THINK HE IS WATCHING FROM THAT HIGH PERCH ON THE 50 YARD LINE.
