The Cloche Hat ~ Give Away!

I am a fan, as you may well know, of the cloche hat.

Often I will turn up one side, but not always. It's a quick way to get a very vintage feel to an outfit, and it covers up hair sins.

Of course the cloche has a 1920's feel to it, and it pretty much the only aspect of 1920s fashion I can wear. The dresses, being shapeless, are unflattering on the Rack, the necklaces, often long, flop over to one side, and the shoes being kitten heeled are a little too low for my taste.

Cloches come with draping or without, in felt or straw, turned up or turned down, with tiny brims or larger ones. Wikipedia says of the cloche: The cloche hat is a fitted, bell-shaped hat for women that was invented by milliner Caroline Reboux in 1908, became especially popular during the 1920s, and continued to be commonly seen until about 1933. Cloche is the French word for "bell".

There have been some retro revivals recently as well.

As a result the blogosphere has produced a whole host of modern ways to wear it.
